ประกาศจังหวัดชุมพร เรื่อง ผลการประกวดตั้งชื่อวงเวียนทางตัน วงเวียนนรินทร์รักษา "วงเวียนนรินทร์รักษา" อัตลักษณ์และความภูมิใจของชาวชุมพร "นรินทร์" แปลว่า พระราชา เป็นที่ทราบกันดีว่า "ด้วยพระเมตตาบารมี ชุมพรวันนี้สุขร่มเย็น" จังหวัดชุมพรรอดพ้นจากอุทกภัยครั้งใหญ่ได้ด้วยพระเมตตาจากในหลวงรัชกาลที่9 ที่ได้พระราชทานทรัพย์ส่วนพระองค์ ทำให้เกิดพื้นที่ที่ปัจจุบันกลายเป็นสัญลักษณ์ด้านการท่องเที่ยว (landmark) ที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของจังหวัดชุมพร คำว่า "นรินทร์" จึงสื่อถึงพระบารมีของพระราชาที่ปกปักรักษาจังหวัดชุมพร และเป็นการเชื่อมโยงถึงสถานที่ที่เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของจังหวัดชุมพรอีกด้วย "รักษา" นอกจากมีความหมายโดยตรงถึงการปกปักรักษาแล้ว "รักษา" ยังสื่อถึงดอกไม้ประจำจังหวัดชุมพร นั่นคือดอกพุทธรักษา ซึ่งปลูกประดับไว้ที่วงเวียนทางตันนี้ด้วยด้วยเหตุนี้ "นรินทร์รักษา" จึงเป็นชื่อวงเวียนที่มีความหมายสวยงามทั้งโดยตรงและโดยนัย เหมาะสมกับอัตลักษณ์และสัญลักษณ์ของจังหวัดชุมพร พร้อมที่จะพัฒนาต่อยอดเป็น landmark ของจังหวัดชุมพรต่อไป “Narin Raksa Roundabout” Proud identity of Chumphon “Narin” is a Thai word which means “the king”. As Chumphon people, we all know that “With the great mercy of His Majesty the Late King, as known as King Rama IX, Chumphon people can live peacefully and happily so far”. Chumphon province overcame the great flood many years ago because of the mercy and broad vision of His Majesty the Late King. He had bestowed his own property on Chumphon province to initiate The Kaem Ling project (Monkey Cheeks Project). Besides preventing the flood, this project area became one of the famous landmarks of Chumphon that attract the tourists today. Therefore, “Narin” implies to the king’s prestige that protect Chumphon province and also links to the symbolic place of Chumphon as well. “Raksa” means to protect in Thai. In addition to the direct meaning of this word, Raksa is the name of Chumphon provincial flower which is planted beautifully at this roundabout. Hence, “Narin Raksa” is the name which has both direct and indirect meaning, suitable to the identity and symbol of Chumphon, and is ready to be developed into the next landmark of Chumphon.
